Hi guys! A long time ago I wrote this for school and it is kind of creepy so I thought why not put it on the blog for halloween. Enjoy!

Have you ever heard of Robert Hooke? Well I’m going to tell you about his life. First I’ll tell you about his early years. Then I’ll talk about his adult life. Next I’ll say about death. Last there is fun facts.

He was born July 18, 1635 in Freshwater, Isle of Wight, England. As a child Robert got smallpox and when he recovered he was disfigured and scarred. He did not have much schooling because he was sick and weak. Due to his curiosity he led his brain to educate himself. At age 13 his dad hung himself.

During adult life he worked and made vacuum pumps for Boyle’s gas law experiments with Robert Boyle. He was chief surveyor to the city London. After the Great fire Robert built some of the first Georgian telescopes. Hooke was first to suggest that matter expands to heat and that air is made when particles are separated by large spaces.

He died March 3, 1703 in London. Robert died a disappointed man. His last years were pitiful for him. His legs and sight began to fail him. Robert died in the Gresham college in the night. When people discovered his body it was swarmed with lice so no one touched it.

He had curly brown hair. His rival Isaac Newton overshadowed him often. He discovered elasticity and this was known as Hooke’s law.Robert was one of the first men to use reflecting telescopes. He suggested Jupiter rotated on its aciss. His studies in microscopic fossils led him to the evolution theory. Also in some pictures that he did not have curly brown hair he had short blond hair.
